CDH Flow Chart

In my effort to explain the next couple of weeks to friends and family, I came up with this.  If any of the more "seasoned" CDH families have some feedback, I'd love to hear it.

For friends and family - i hope this helps you understand our prayers and struggles over the next few weeks/months/years.  click on the link below to make it large enough to read - you'll be redirected to Picasa Web Albums

  1. Wow!!! I am the mom to a CDH survivor. What a great chart!!!! I think it is a great explanation of the process and does a great job of showing that at any point in the journey there could be complications, but also, at many points in the journey your baby will make a smooth transition from one step to the next. And for each complications, there are a series of procedures, medicines, etc., that can resolve those complications. What a creative and informative way of expressing it! I love the 20 weeks of stress!!! In my case, my Dakota came more than 7 weeks early, so our complications came in the beginning. She had to be put on ECMO on her 2nd day of life, but then had completely stabilized and was off of it by her 5th day of life. From there, we progressed through the steps smoothly with a beautiful post surgery recovery. Until we got to feeding, which was a struggle, but we slowly, slowly got through it. I think what is so great is that it shows that each babies journey to home can be completely different. Many, many prayers for Maddie and for you and your family as the time approaches! May your flow chart flow smoothly in a counter-clockwise direction!!
    Hugs,
    Jennifer
